New capabilities unveiled at ITS America 2026 extend operational intelligence beyond the traffic cabinet and into pedestrian infrastructure.
Greenville, Texas — Synapse ITS (“Synapse”) today announced the integration of Polara Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS) into the SYO™ ecosystem, marking a significant expansion of the company’s connected transportation operations platform.
The announcement, made at the ITS America Conference & Expo, extends SYO beyond EDI signal monitors to include pedestrian infrastructure, creating a shared operational platform for agencies, signal supervisors, and technicians managing both traffic signal and accessibility assets.
With APS buttons now part of the ecosystem, agencies can access operational intelligence across EDI and Polara devices through a unified SYO App and SYO Web experience. Integration provides a centralized view of critical infrastructure while simplifying deployment, management, and support workflows.
“Transportation agencies are increasingly being asked to do more with limited resources,” said Josh LittleSun, Chief Technology Officer at Synapse ITS. “By bringing Polara into the SYO ecosystem, we’re extending visibility and operational awareness beyond the cabinet and across the intersection. This gives agencies a connected platform for managing critical infrastructure from a single environment.”

The announcement also introduces several new SYO capabilities designed to improve field operations and deployment consistency.
New features unveiled at ITS America include:
- QuickStart setup for guided device onboarding and activation
- Enhanced security with centralized password management and controlled user access
- Plan-ahead intersection configuration tools that allow experienced technicians to create, save, and deploy reusable intersection templates
- Automatic message generation for APS street-name audio
The integration reflects Synapse ITS’s vision of connecting critical infrastructure to create better tools, greater visibility, and easier access to the information that signal supervisors and technicians rely on every day. Rather than focusing solely on individual device functionality, SYO enables agencies to operate more efficiently across their infrastructure.
Polara customers will gain access to SYO-powered setup, security, and management capabilities, while agencies already using SYO with EDI monitors can now extend the value of their operational platform to include pedestrian infrastructure.
